So, we still have 6 cats but they appear to be multiplying. I wonder if this has anything to do with the 3 mice we have had to help to mousey heaven this winter.
I have not had a chance to name the new cats in our yard. Their personalities are still unknown to me however their presence is not. We have atleast 2 new cats. One without a tail and another tabby type cat.
To ALL: Would it be unneighbourly of me to call the cat police and have them picked up? My dilema is that I know for sure that one of them belongs to the lady nextdoor. She however feels it is okay to allow her cat to roam around. She also feels it is okay to leave her garbage from November until March in her backyard. Hmmmm, I wonder if that has anything to do with the rodents in the neighbourhood.
I am not sure but I don't know if you know, I don't overly like cats. I have had one cat in my life and Bob was a great cat until he brought home a present for me. It was then that I no longer had a cat. I know they hunt but really I don't want that kind of present. My mother and grandmother were terrified of cats. They would seriously run back in the house when they saw one and if it would not leave the yard and they really had to go out they would chase it away with a broom.
So once again if you are feeling lonely and would like a cat let us know.
Helplessly hoping a animal lover comes by.

I am a cat lover but hubby won't let us get another cat till this one is gone to kitty heaven. Also, I don't know how easy it would be to transport to us...LOL!
Hope your cat problems end soon...maybe you will have to call the cat-take-away-people if it doesn't end soon. Just think they will be getting rid of the rodents for you before they come into your house....
Saskatoon has a cat bylaw, I believe, and cats need to be registered with the City. If they're not, they're not to be let outside. If you call the cat police about your neighbour's cats, they will take them to the SPCA, and she will have to pay a fee to get them out, and probably get a stern talking-to about not having licensed her cats (unless she has, in which case, she'll just have to pay to get them out).
Cats poop in the flowerbeds, and their poop, particularly if they're outdoor cats what catch mice and birds, can carry the bacteria that causes toxoplasmosis, which can be fatal and is extremely dangerous to little ones. Cats can also carry fleas, and any number of other mites and unsavoury characters that are no good for your kids. Plus, you don't want your kids digging in poop, unless it comes out the back end of a pig or cow and you've put it there yourself to fertilise the beds.
I would recommend you talk to your neighbour and let her know that you don't want her cat(s) in your yard. She probably won't listen. But at that point, call the cat police all you want.
If one of our neighbours told me they don't want our cat in their yard, I would do my best to make sure that they either stayed indoors, on leashes when outdoors, or I would build a cat run for them.
You have every right to *not* have animals in your yard.
I have introduced my cats to my neighbour to see if they object to the beasties roaming about. They didn't, but I don't know if they are still bothered. They have an indoor cat themselves.
The bylaw in Saskatoon is that if a cat is outdoors it MUST be on a leash. I think this is cruel for the kittens, but I also agree with cenobyte - you have every right to not have the beasties in your yard.
I would hope my neighbours would talk to me before having my cats hauled away.
